Upon reaching Girvan, one cannot ignore an extraordinary sight – an unconventional property that seems like a high-rise building in the midst of a rural setting, yet it is a towering ten-floor house.
Our camping experience was fantastic, as we secured a prime spot on our friend’s property with an elevated view of the mountains.
Girvan, situated less than two hours from Barrington Top Mountains, became the destination for our picnic lunch and a visit to Gloucester Falls. This marked our second attempt, we missed the turnoff during our previous try from Gloucester.
Opting for a route via Stroud to Barrington Top Mountains, we enjoyed a highly scenic drive. As we neared the mountains, the road progressively narrowed, transitioning to dirt. However, the journey took an unexpected turn with a rough and overgrown road towards the end, despite Google Maps deeming it feasible. Regrettably, we had to turn back and abandon our plan once again.
The next day, we set our course for the charming coastal town of Karuah. Lucky to have chosen a perfect day, we made a stop at Longworth Park, located over the bridge, where I took a refreshing swim in the warmer waters. The park, known for fishing and boating, boasted lovely yachts anchored in the harbour. Our lunch was enjoyed at the RSL.
On the return journey, we opted for the scenic route through Bulahdelah and Booral Road. While not recommended for towing our 20’6 caravan, we observed braver individuals manoeuvring their caravans through this narrow route.
