The lively Tawau Yacht Club set the stage for a joyful reunion with friends John and Sara. Tawau’s restaurants delighted us with great food and drink, allowing us to indulge in exploring the local cuisine. Our days were occupied with exploring and shopping, and Sara and I were fortunate to find a superb shoe shop catering to larger sizes. Our friends were keenly interested in our journey, wanting to know how we navigated our way to Borneo. Sara was also interested in the Malaysian government’s security force (ESSCOM), which was guarding our rally against pirates as we sailed over the top of Borneo and the measures taken to ensure our safety added an extra layer of adventure to our journey, it showcased some of the complexities regarding navigating the region’s area and potential challenges.
