Most people embark on an unforgettable journey to Cape York in their 4WD during the winter months. It’s all about the adventure and getting your photo taken at the Northernmost Points of Australia. In our photo, we are wearing life jackets and arrived by dinghy. We anchored our vessel at York Island, which was protected from the wind and swell. We were excited that we had finally arrived. A naval vessel was anchored offshore.
Cape York is a rugged part of Australia with rocky shores and islands. The tides rush in and out, so we had to be careful where we left the dinghy while we were ashore. There is nothing worse than being “high and dry” and dragging it back to the water, especially if it’s soft sand. Crocodiles are abundant in this area, so we had to make a mad dash to shore and didn’t want to hang around standing in the water.
