A quick stopover at the Orient Hotel on the Rocks before setting out on the harbour to see the ships and flypast from the outer Manly Ferry vantage point, all in anticipation of the visit from the King and Queen
A Fleet Review on Sydney Harbour featured an Australian Defence Force flypast. Their Majesties, accompanied by the Governor-General, Chief of the Defence Force, and Chief of Navy, will board a vessel to conduct an on-water review of His Majesty’s Australian ships Hobart, Warramunga, Arunta, Gascoyne, and Yarra, which will be anchored in the harbour.
The view from the ferry was spectacular. Thousands of people gathered at the Sydney Opera House, hoping to meet or see the King and Queen. Seahawk Helicopters flew over the harbour, towing the Australian flag. We were… very lucky regarding the weather they was an easterly breeze and sunshine. Overseas visitors aboard the Celebrity Edge cruise ship also enjoyed the festivities.
