Marburg

We set up camp at the Marburg Showgrounds, nestled next to the trotting track, which served as our perfect base for exploring the enchanting surroundings. Our stay at the showgrounds was enjoyable, and the caretakers were not only friendly but also incredibly helpful, making us feel right at home. Every day, the rhythmic sound of hooves echoed in the air as horses trained on the Trotting Track. Each fortnight, Sundays transform into race days, drawing in locals eager to witness the competition. During these events, food and drinks are readily available, adding to the festive spirit, they have a TAB and the chance to participate in meat raffle.

Marburg has a street library reading room, so take a stroll and check it out after enjoying some coffee and cake at a local café. Be sure to check the opening times if you plan to visit. Don’t forget to stop by Scotland Yard Antiques; it’s sure to put a smile on your face.

For golf enthusiasts, there are three delightful courses within a reasonable driving distance: Laidley, Lowood, and Rosewood. After a lengthy break from our favorite pastime, we chose to revisit Rosewood for a round of golf.

The experience was truly enjoyable; the course is a charming and well-maintained country layout, complete with lush greenery (trees) which we managed to find while looking for our ball!
