We had a lovely little stop in Bundaberg on our way to Rosedale to catch up with our friends Stuart and Di, whom we met at a SICYC fundraising event over ten years ago! We stayed at the cozy Burnett Heads Lighthouse Holiday Park, which was super convenient and close to everything we needed. We treated ourselves to some fantastic coffee at Kelly’s, indulged in delicious Red Emperor fish and chips, and wrapped up our visit with a great meal at a local pub on our last evening. It was such a nice break!
Nearby is the marina, which was a pleasant 35-minute walk for me. You can watch the sailboats navigate the channel, and tours to Lady Musgrave Island depart from the marina. The Bundaberg Rum Distillery is just a short drive away. If you enjoy rum and want to learn about the distillation process, it’s definitely worth a visit.
We set out on an adventure to Bagara, eager to soak in the beauty of the coastline. If you appreciate bridge heritage, consider taking a drive across the Burnett Bridge. This heritage-listed road bridge spans the Burnett River and was built in 1900. We chose this route when we were heading north to Rosedale.
