We selected First Settlers Park Rest Area in Benarkin as our overnight stop, and upon arrival, we were pleased to find ample free space available for caravans. Since it was just a quick stopover, we kept our caravan hitched up, making the process even more convenient.
The rest area is conveniently located adjacent to the scenic rail trail, which adds to its charm. As we explored the area, we came across informative display boards detailing the fascinating history of the local sawmill. It was intriguing to learn how the railway played a crucial role in supporting both the farming and timber industries in the region.
As we meandered through the park, we discovered relics from the past, including a traditional farm wagon and tilt trays that were once common in the area. These artifacts gave us a glimpse into the day-to-day life of those who worked here long ago.
Overall, our brief visit to First Settlers Park was a delightful experience, blending history with the bushland landscape.
