We stayed the night at the RV park in Marlborough, parking well away from the road near the long grass along the boundary. It was a decent spot—quiet enough, with the occasional hum of trucks in the distance.
The next morning, we took a walk into town. Did a loop around the block and passed the Lions Park and the Heritage Museum. There was a massive boulder under cover that caught my eye, so I wandered over for a look. Turned out it was a chunk of chrysoprase—a green gemstone. According to the plaque, it’s been prized since ancient times, worn by the likes of Cleopatra and Alexander the Great. You never know what you’ll stumble across when you take a moment to look around.
Marlborough’s got a pub too. One of the other caravaners mentioned it was being renovated, so no meals at the moment. You can camp out the back for five bucks a night. There’s also a grocery shop and a place to grab a coffee right next door.
